Prosthetics & Orthotics
Smart prosthetics, exoskeletons and assistive technology.
Limb-loss care has advanced from socket-based prosthetics to direct skeletal attachment and intuitive neural control. The track will cover osseointegration (OPRA, OPL implants) outcomes and complication management, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and targeted sensory reinnervation (TSR) for neuroma prevention and intuitive prosthetic control, and the latest mind-controlled and proprioceptive prosthetic systems including agonist-antagonist myoneural interfaces. Microprocessor knees (Ottobock Genium X4, Ossur Power Knee), powered ankles (BiOM/Empower), and bionic hands (Ottobock bebionic, Ossur i-Limb) will be benchmarked. Exoskeleton content addresses both rehabilitative and assistive personal-use devices and emerging Medicare coverage pathways.
