Disability Rights & Advocacy

Disability rights frame rehabilitation practice with major recent policy developments. The session covers the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) 35 years on, employment discrimination and EEOC enforcement, accessible design (Universal Design, WCAG digital accessibility), healthcare access for people with disabilities (2024 HHS rule on accessible medical equipment), the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) framework, and advocacy training. Discussion addresses disability employment and workforce-development pipeline, voting access for people with disabilities, US vs EU vs UN disability frameworks, intersectionality, self-advocacy training, and disability rights in AI-driven employment screening.
